Overview:

Using the evidence and research around safety culture, this highly interactive workshop helps you understand the impact of culture on your team and on patient outcomes.

We will provide practical implementation techniques that you can apply in your practice. We will explore what culture is, before examining the subject of blame, and helping you understand how to build a ‘restorative just culture’ which balances learning with accountability.

We help you understand the concept of systems thinking (understanding the systems at play beyond just the people in any given scenario) and how this knowledge feeds into continuous improvement at your practice, reducing the risk of patient harm.

Who is this course suitable for?

All members of veterinary teams, both clinical and non-clinical can attend this course. This content can be better suited to those in lead roles and anyone who has a desire to champion patient safety.

Service classification:

Practices & teams, corporate organisations

"The VetLed Leadership Programme has been an invaluable resource for our leadership team, helping us explore our individual strengths and challenges while aligning our leaders towards a common goal.  From the first session, we noticed a difference in confidence with leadership decisions, using tools that prioritize people and foster a healthy and sustainable practice culture.

Their supportive and engaging course leaders provide real-life insight into veterinary practice and create an environment where the team feels encouraged to speak up in group sessions.

I would highly recommend VetLed for any team that understands the importance of their people and the team culture in creating success.”

“In a busy multi-disciplinary referral hospital like ours, Human Factors plays a key role in team dynamics, staff wellbeing, and ultimately patient care. The support of VetLed has been invaluable in improving our knowledge in this area.

The VetLed team worked with colleagues from across the hospital over an extended period, using observations, frameworks, tools, and techniques that we can take forward on our Human Factors improvement journey.

We are grateful for the support of VetLed and would not hesitate to work with them again in the future.”

Their supportive and engaging course leaders provide real-life insight into veterinary practice and create an environment where the team feels encouraged to speak up in group sessions.

I would highly recommend VetLed for any team that understands the importance of their people and the team culture in creating success.”

“The practical day was so helpful. Cat and Sara created an extremely safe environment and were so kind, patient and understanding. Everyone in my group commented on how they felt they could be completely open and share mistakes, silly questions etc.”

“Training and understanding of how the brain works has encouraged people to be braver and speak out. Staff understand it is better to talk to each other rather than harbour resentment. There is now an overall improvement in tolerance and respect towards each other, particularly where there had been previous issues. People are more confident to suggest ideas and more willing to listen.”

“I just wanted to drop you both a note to say, thank you for the sessions you ran for us this and last week. The feedback from our teams has been overwhelmingly positive. The sessions were well delivered, engaging and very useful! It has definitely triggered a couple of other projects we would like to implement later in the year.”

'Dan's talk was fascinating and thought-provoking. It is so applicable to our work in the veterinary sector, both in terms of communication and Human Factors within our practices. Learning in these current times to be adaptive with all that is going on in the world around us is so important.'
