Overview:

This highly relatable workshop addresses known challenges regarding the human experience of working in veterinary practice as a recent veterinary graduate.

Using a mixture of facilitated discussions, scenario exercises and breakout groups graduates will explore what it is to be human and some of the common psychological challenges faced by recent veterinary graduates.

We help graduates to understand concepts such as perfectionism, imposter syndrome, compassion fatigue and second victimhood - considering why they are experienced, how they can be recognised and strategies to help navigate them.

During this workshop graduates will learn tools and strategies such as self-compassion, skilful empathy and acceptance. Each graduate will end the day by building their own, personalised toolkit from the topics that have been covered.

Who is this course suitable for?

Veterinarians with less than 3 years’ experience in practice.

This training can be delivered as part of a graduate programme or as an offering for recently graduated vets within a team.

Service classification:

Practices & teams, corporate organisations

Course length:

1 day (in-person)

Wow, what a conversation starter!

The VetLed Civility training was very impactful really focusing in on how our behaviour towards each other affects patient care.  VetLed presented theory and hard-hitting stories but also left our team with a system of tackling incivility practice-wide.  This course fitted the bill, Thank You!

"The VetLed Leadership Programme has been an invaluable resource for our leadership team, helping us explore our individual strengths and challenges while aligning our leaders towards a common goal.  From the first session, we noticed a difference in confidence with leadership decisions, using tools that prioritize people and foster a healthy and sustainable practice culture.

Their supportive and engaging course leaders provide real-life insight into veterinary practice and create an environment where the team feels encouraged to speak up in group sessions.

I would highly recommend VetLed for any team that understands the importance of their people and the team culture in creating success.”

To say it was helpful is a massive understatement! They know what they are talking about and the observation days they conducted gave us massive insight into areas we had not seen we could improve on. I can't recommend their help and support enough!”

We are grateful for the support of VetLed and would not hesitate to work with them again in the future.”

Referrals Director, Scarsdale Vets

“In a busy multi-disciplinary referral hospital like ours, Human Factors plays a key role in team dynamics, staff wellbeing, and ultimately patient care. The support of VetLed has been invaluable in improving our knowledge in this area.

The VetLed team worked with colleagues from across the hospital over an extended period, using observations, frameworks, tools, and techniques that we can take forward on our Human Factors improvement journey.

We are grateful for the support of VetLed and would not hesitate to work with them again in the future.”

“Training and understanding of how the brain works has encouraged people to be braver and speak out. Staff understand it is better to talk to each other rather than harbour resentment. There is now an overall improvement in tolerance and respect towards each other, particularly where there had been previous issues. People are more confident to suggest ideas and more willing to listen.”

The sessions were well delivered, engaging and very useful! It has definitely triggered a couple of other projects we would like to implement later in the year.”

“We worked with VetLed for an intensive, and brilliant, year. They created a bespoke programme for our practice after chatting through where we were and where we wanted to be. To say it was helpful is a massive understatement! They know what they are talking about and the observation days they conducted gave us massive insight into areas we had not seen we could improve on. I can't recommend their help and support enough!”
