Explore how Human Factors relates to everyday veterinary practice, and why an understanding and application of the associated principles is essential for safe patient care and team wellbeing.

Developed by our team of Human Factors specialists, using expertise from within the veterinary profession and from other fields such as commercial aviation, healthcare and elite sport, this introductory course covers the key points related to both the theory and best practice.

Focusing on the unique challenges of veterinary teams, you'll leave with an understanding for the importance of a Human Factors approach, a visualisation for topics that you may want to explore in further detail and practical, evidence-based tools that you can use immediately.

Topics covered include team communication, decision making, situational awareness, cognitive limitations and systems thinking.

Who is this course suitable for?

All members of veterinary teams, both clinical and non-clinical. There is great benefit for a whole team having an understanding for Human Factors fundamentals.

Service classification:

Practices & teams, corporate organisations

Course length:

60 minutes (online)

All the talks I watched on Thursday were amazing, but I especially enjoyed the importance of non-clinical skills development in university and EMS. It was really refreshing and empowering to watch these incredibly inspirational women speak about their journeys to get to where they are now. It was truly eye-opening and awe-inspiring.

Wow, what a conversation starter!

The VetLed Civility training was very impactful really focusing in on how our behaviour towards each other affects patient care.  VetLed presented theory and hard-hitting stories but also left our team with a system of tackling incivility practice-wide.  This course fitted the bill, Thank You!

"The VetLed Leadership Programme has been an invaluable resource for our leadership team, helping us explore our individual strengths and challenges while aligning our leaders towards a common goal.  From the first session, we noticed a difference in confidence with leadership decisions, using tools that prioritize people and foster a healthy and sustainable practice culture.

Their supportive and engaging course leaders provide real-life insight into veterinary practice and create an environment where the team feels encouraged to speak up in group sessions.

I would highly recommend VetLed for any team that understands the importance of their people and the team culture in creating success.”
